Stories that explore faith, struggle, temptation, and redemption in a way that feels honest, raw, and transformative.
My Journey
I’m an English educator, and proud Brooklyn native who aspired to write books after reading A Raisin in the Sun. Long before awards and book covers, there was a small church stage and a Sunday School anniversary program.
There was Mountain View Bible Camp (MVBC)- the Bible camp that became my first creative home base. It was there I learned that performing wasn’t just fun — it was powerful. “Story” felt necessary.
At twelve years old, my friend Don Findlay grew tired of our yearly recitations at Sunday school and said, “Carol, you should write something.”
So I did.
My first play, The Very Odd but Wrong Family, was a dramatic twelve-year-old remix of Dallas and Dynasty — wealthy children, miniature sleuths (think The Scooby Doo mysteries), jokes/sarcasm, and absolutely no supervision. It was high drama on a zero-dollar budget.
Somehow… it worked.
What began as a way to avoid repeating the same script became the start of a lifelong calling. From church stages to classrooms to award-winning novels, I’ve always been drawn to stories about identity, loyalty, temptation, and consequence. MVBC provided the platform, a friend gave me the nudge, and God gave me the imagination. I didn’t always write biblical based material. There was a twelve year span when I was backsliding and drowning in depression. Those were some dark times, but I thank the Lord for parents, extended family, and lifelong church friends who prayed for me when I couldn’t.
Now I write stories that aren’t afraid to tackle topics like temptation, emotional complexity, or spiritual warfare — because real faith isn’t fragile, and neither are the people living it.
My debut novel, The Siren’s Call, received the 2026 Christlit Book Award and is currently a Book of the Year finalist, which feels like confirmation that the little girl with big literary dreams was onto something.
When I’m not planning events I’m building narrative worlds that ask hard questions and point toward redemption.
Pull up a chair, the story’s just getting interesting!

“A realistic story of the internal strife many believers face… The spiritual civil war within July is authentically portrayed, and the metaphoric language paints beautiful imagery. The struggle is real.”
